Nurses

Practice Nurses
The practice nurses can deal with many minor illnesses and are happy to provide telephone advice and consultations. They perform the majority of the cervical smears in the practice. They can also treat cystitis, advise on common childhood illnesses and minor injuries. If in doubt, please ask for their advice. They generally have ‘same day’ appointments. They will involve the GP if necessary.

All the nurses also take a very active role in Health Promotion. They all provide cervical smears, dietary advice, travel advice, contraceptive advice, blood pressure checks, well person checks and teenage health advice, along with dressings and wound care and immunizations.

Emma Kennedy RGN – is our Nurse Team Leader. Emma also runs the Diabetes clinic and Coronary Heart Disease clinic. She is also trained to provide smoking cessation advice and can prescribe Nicotine Replacement Treatments.

Karen Mackenzie RGN - runs the Asthma Clinic and also the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Clinic. She performs asthma checks and can advise and prescribe for asthma problems. She also sees patients for Smoking Cessation Advice and is able to prescribe Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

Sally Salter RGN - is a general treatment room nurse, with an interest in smears and travel immunizations.Sally also coordinates the 'Friends in the Community' nursing service with Celia Kennedy.
Mrs Jenny Yalden (f)

Mrs Jenny Yalden RGN - Jenny is an experienced nurse who is new to Practice nursing.  You can book in with her for dressings, coronary heart disease clinic and general nursing duties.

Rob is an experienced paramedic and will be working alongside the Doctors and Nurses by seeing and speaking to patients based on clinical need.

Healthcare Assistants

Mrs Heather Church (f)
Heather Church - is a health care assistant. She assists the nurses by helping with blood pressure checks, performing ECGs and carrying out blood tests. Heather also sees patients eligible for their initial NHS Health Check appointment.

Phlebotomists

Mrs Karen Dodds (f)
Provides blood tests at the Surgery. You can make an appointment for a blood test by contacting Reception. She also runs the CoaguChek clinic for patients on Warfarin.
